A trip to Taney County Circuit Court is the next step planned in the effort to hold an outdoor concert on the parking lot behind the Grand Palace.
On Tuesday night, Branson aldermen unanimously voted to affirm the earlier denial of a Special Event Permit for the planned concert August 21st, featuring hip-hop artist Nelly. The City of Branson had urged organizer Paul Dunn to complete a list of repairs and hold the concert inside the venue. It was also noted that on Tuesday afternoon, the project's architect left the job and a "stop work" order was issued by the city. City Administrator Dean Kruit entered into the record a letter to the city's Planning and Development Department from architect Brent Butler, indicating that he has removed himself and his firm from the project.

The unanimous vote ended an appeal hearing during which the Board of Aldermen also heard from representatives of area businesses and members of the public. Dunn's attorney, Anissa Bluebaum, says the next step will be to file a motion in Taney County Circuit Court for a declaratory judgment and temporary restraining order against the City of Branson.
