Concert Producers to Seek Relief in Court

A trip to Taney County Circuit Court is the next step planned in the effort to hold an outdoor concert on the parking lot behind the Grand Palace.

On Tuesday night, Branson aldermen unanimously voted to affirm the earlier denial of a Special Event Permit for the planned concert August 21st, featuring hip-hop artist Nelly. The City of Branson had urged organizer Paul Dunn to complete a list of repairs and hold the concert inside the venue. Dunn told aldermen Tuesday night the theater could not be made safe in time for the show, because the list doesn't go far enough...

It was also noted that on Tuesday afternoon, the project's architect left the job and a "stop work" order was issued by the city. City Administrator Dean Kruit entered into the record a letter to the city's Planning and Development Department from architect Brent Butler, indicating that he has removed himself and his firm from the project.

The unanimous vote ended an appeal hearing during which the Board of Aldermen also heard from representatives of area businesses and members of the public. Dunn's attorney, Anissa Bluebaum, says the next step will be to file a motion in Taney County Circuit Court for a declaratory judgment and temporary restraining order against the City of Branson.

I, among others are not proud that a new venue has to fight in court to bring a new show to branson. With that said, nelly is not the kind of thing we need here! a look at his website will show you it is wrong. look at the title of his #13 song on his website, and tell yourself you want your children exposed to this type of mind garb.

So, this concert has just blown everything out of control. Why can't they just have it inside? If they wanted to have it outside, then go to Lampe. It is made to have concerts outside. Of course some of the businesses around the palace are for it, they will make more money. This concert has just caused so much confusion. Whay can't people just follow the rules and let people have a good time. Branson residents elected city of Branson officials, sounds like the new owner is starting off on the wrong foot in Branson. This is sad

This situation is a prime example of how the city of Branson has continued it's past ways in absolute control of everything from a tree in YOUR yard to destroying the Branson lakefront which has left the residents to pay millions in unfunded Landing debt. They would rather see the Grand Palace rot to the ground!!!!!

Talk about starting out on the wrong foot in local politics! What are these people thinking?

Nelly has NO place in Branson. And all Nelly's followers are nothing but drug dealers and killers. I hope Branson STOPS the concert all together as if he comes it will ruin Branson and its family image. GO CITY COUNCIL!
