UPDATE: Several Local Businesses and Organizations Collecting Supplies for Joplin

Several area businesses and organizations are reaching out to help tornado ravaged Joplin:

Tri-Lakes Motors is collecting food and clothing to be donated to Convoy of Hope for victims of the Joplin tornado. Donations will be accepted today and tomorrow from 8 to 5 in the parts department of Tri-Lakes Motors just off Highway 65, north of Branson. (334-7543)

The Tri-Lakes Board of Realtors on Highway 265 in Branson, is accepting donations of blankets, nonperishable food items and personal care items. These items will be delivered to the Joplin area. (338-4437)

The Caring Cupcakes Club is hosting a collection drive in the parking lot of Country Mart on Highway 248 in Branson until 9 o'clock tonight. Donations should be dropped off at the Budget truck. Items will be delivered to the American Red Cross shelter in Joplin. (231-1246)

First Baptist Church in Branson is holding a food and supply drive for Forrest Park Baptist Church in Joplin. Food, water and first aid supplies are being collected at the Lifecenter on Sunshine Street. (334-7437)

The Branson Travel Office has arranged for a large box truck to deliver donations to Joplin. Items can be dropped off at 120 North Commercial in Downtown Branson. All donations need to be in by Wednesday night at 9 o'clock. (544-1944)

A "Help Joplin" tornado benefit will be held in conjunction with the established Kimberling City Bluegrass Concert Series, Saturday night from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Kimberling City Shopping Center. This will be a free concert with a love offering taken for tornado victims in Joplin. Convoy of Hope has been chosen as the charity to distribute the proceeds.

In Stone County, Christian Associates has already delivered aid to victims of the tornado in Joplin, and will continue to do so. Residents of Stone county can drop off donations at the Christian Associates Thrift Shops in Branson West and on main Street in Crane. Needed items include clothing and toys, bottled water and ready-to-eat food items. (417-272-1121)

The Stone County Sheriff's Office in Galena is accepting donations for those affected by tornadoes in Joplin and southwest Missouri. Items will be taken to the sheriff's office in Jasper County. Accepted are canned goods and bottled water, blankets and hygiene products. (417-357-6116)
