Seth Caperton, 92, of Walnut Shade, MO passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 15 at 2:00 P.M. in Williams Memorial Chapel on the College of the Ozarks Campus. Dr. Justin Carswell will officiate. Burial will follow in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson with full military honors. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home, Branson.
Seth Bedford Caperton was born February 18, 1921 in Ballinger, Texas. He was the son of Seth Bedford Caperton, Sr. and Edna (Lee) Caperton. Seth grew up in Texas and then entered the United States Army Air Corp. During World War II he flew bombing missions out of England over Europe. He retired as a Major from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He and his family moved from Orlando, Florida to Walnut Shade in 1963. Seth went to work at the College of the Ozarks, then School of the Ozarks. He built the C of O Airport, managed the airport and was the chief flight instructor. He served as Dr. Graham Clark’s pilot, flying him many places. Seth retired from the College of the Ozarks after 20 years of service. He was a long time member of the Missouri Pilots Association and Sons of the American Revolution
Seth was married to Patricia Caperton. They were wed on June 25, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah and were blessed with two sons. Seth and Patricia celebrated 67 years of marriage before her passing last fall.
Seth is survived by his two sons, Bryan Caperton and Brett Caperton both of Walnut Shade; three grandchildren, Clinton (Alicia) Caperton, Kyle (Jillian) Caperton and Sherry Caperton and two great grandsons, Zane & Trevor Caperton.
